Research the panel members

For example, a direct manager may be interested in how you would perform the basic duties of the role. However, an HR representative may be looking at how you fit into the company’s culture.


Research each panel member. Look into their background. Are there any special initiatives they have led in the company? Have they recently achieved any major accomplishments?


If the company doesn’t supply a list of panel members, you can ask for a list of members and their job titles.

Bring enough materials for the entire panel


If supplying materials such as your resume or examples of your work, bring enough copies for the entire panel. It is better to have too many copies than not enough.

Engage equally with each interviewer


It’s important you build rapport with each member of the interview panel, not just the most outgoing one. You should assume that they all have equal input into the final decision.

Asking follow up questions to topics addressed earlier in the interview is a good way to show you are engaged and interested in the conversation.
